Proverbs

November 2025

Read one chapter in Proverbs every day, choose a verse to invite thoughtful meditation and pray for God’s help to increase wisdom.

Ch 1

verse 33

But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.

This is not a promise, but I’m thankful for the principle that wise living leads to peace and a clear conscience.

Lord, thank you that I do not have to live in anxiety, waiting for the shoe to drop. Please grant me greater wisdom to navigate tough areas in life and courage to live in obedience. Life is hard, but listening to, and depending on you makes life better, easier and safer.

Ch 2

verse 11

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.

I seem to always be seeking understanding, but don’t always get there.

Lord, would you give me wisdom and discretion to guard my mouth until I understand and before I speak.

Ch 3

verse 35

The wise inherit honor, but fools get only shame.

Too busy these days and needing help to live according to God’s plan and not to lean on my own understanding.

Lord, I need the desire to be wise not to avoid shame (though I want to do that!) but more so to give you the glory. Would you help me walk in wisdom today?

Ch 4

verse 26

Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.

Lord, help me not grow complacent in my walk but continue to desire wisdom and instruction. I need to grow stronger as my body weakens; I want to finish well. Life seems harder because the struggles are new, help me to trust you for new understanding to counter every new obstacle.

Ch 5

verse 21

For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes.

Lord, help me see you more clearly and be more aware of your presence. May it create in me a sense of holy fear about my daily thoughts, attitudes, and actions.

Ch 6

verseS 30-31

Excuses might even be found for a thief if he steals when he is starving! But even so, he is fined seven times as much as he stole

Lord, I fear I may be settling more easily into using my illness as an excuse. It may seem right in the moment but there is a penalty for making excuses. Please help me to be more discerning as I evaluate what I truly cannot do. Give me victory over my limitations today to encourage me in knowing I’ve got this because you’ve got me.

Ch 7

verse 3

Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.

I am a few days behind in my daily Bible reading plan. This verse reminds me why it is crucial that I make it a priority.

Lord, I don’t want to read your word out of obligation; yet, I don’t want to lose the habit. Help me today to have an attentive and eager heart to bind your word in my heart so I can do it with my hands.

Ch 8

verse 36

But he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.

Lord, I pray for you to reveal yourself in a specific way to those whom I love. You love them too…yet, they do not yet know you. The wages of sin is death and I know you are patient, but life is short. Draw them, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to seek you while you may be found and find life in Jesus’ name.
